Tips for Care & Preservation of Knitwear

1. HOW TO KEEP.

• It is not recommended to hang knitwear on clothes hangers as they may stretch and lose their form. Store knitwear gently folded in drawers.
• DO NOT put too many things on the top of one another.
• Empty pockets and remove jewellery, belts or other accessories from garments

Woollen Clothing Storage
Woollens are susceptible to damage from moths and carpet beetles. The insect larvae are attracted to areas soiled with food stains or body oil. The best method for protecting your woollens from insects is to keep them clean.
Here are some additional safeguards to protect your woollens:
• Have your woollens cleaned before packing them away.
Cleaning will also kill larvae.
• Keep closets, dresser drawers and trunks clean.
• Pack clothes in airtight containers with secure lids.
• Cold storage in temperatures of 40 degrees (4°C) or lower further discourages infestation.

2. HOW TO WASH.

• Knitwear is best hand-washed. The best cleaning solution is warm soapy water. NEVER use detergents which contain bleach.
• NEVER drip dry. Instead gently wrap in a towel and pat it dry.
• Use a brush to remove surface soil and dirt from woollen clothing
• Use a damp sponge to remove soil from woollens knits and finer fabrics
• Remove spots and stains promptly.

3. HOW TO DRY.

• To protect your knitwear from damage ALWAYS use only FLAT SURFACES
to dry it after washing. Do not use any hooks, clothes lines or clothes hangers.
• If wool gets wet, dry the garment at room temperature away from direct heat.
